Mega Swim A Mega Success

Over $19,000 were raised at the 2016 MS 24 Hour Mega Swim, held at the Doug Ellis Swimming Pool on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September.

The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a fun team relay event where teams have a swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours, and compete for laps swum and money raised, in support of people living with multiple sclerosis.

Eight teams consisting of over 100 participants jumped into the pool and swam for the 24 hour period, achieving a grand total distance of 638.45km!

Not only did the teams swim the equivalent distance of Melbourne to Devonport, Tasmania (and back a little bit), but they have also raised a fantastic amount of money to help people living with multiple sclerosis via Go for Gold Scholarships.

We're looking forward to hosting this event next year, building on these achievements and continuing to engage Monash University and City of Monash communities to be actively involved with this event.

A big thanks to all participants, their friends and families who came to support, the volunteers and the Monash Sport staff!

The top three individual fundraisers:
